In September 2025, the Zoroastrian world learned that Parsiana, a publication documenting community life since November 1964, would cease regular publication after 61 years.
The announcement raised concerns about the future of its extensive historical archives. At the time, Parsiana’s publishers discussed maintaining digital access for a nominal fee and exploring long-term preservation arrangements.
Recognizing the importance of that legacy, eFireTemple acquired Parsiana.org as a precautionary initiative to help safeguard Zoroastrian historical knowledge should the original publication’s digital future become uncertain.
Then, on May 4, 2026, Parsiana’s publishers made a significant decision: their digital archives, covering November 1964 through October 2025, would be available free of charge, with website registration.
With Parsiana.com continuing online and its historical record accessible, eFireTemple made the decision in October 2026 to retire Parsiana.org.
The outcome was exactly what a preservation effort should welcome: the original institution maintaining its own legacy and opening that knowledge to a wider audience.
eFireTemple had stepped forward when a flame appeared threatened. When that flame continued burning, it stepped aside.
Because the purpose of preserving Zoroastrianism is not to own every flame.
It is to ensure that none are needlessly extinguished.
