Written by Start with the timeline.
That is where this becomes obvious.
BEFORE DANIEL
There is no Pharisee sect.
There is no Sadducee sect.
There is no Pharisee-versus-Sadducee resurrection controversy.
And the Hebrew Bible does not yet contain the developed resurrection system that later becomes central to that controversy.
The older Israelite destination of the dead is Sheol.
Then something changes.
AROUND 164 BCE: DANIEL
Daniel 12 introduces the Hebrew Bible’s first clear scene of people rising from the dead into different final destinies:
some to everlasting life
and
some to shame and everlasting contempt.
But this was not written by a sixth-century Daniel predicting events hundreds of years into the future.
The apocalyptic material belongs to the Maccabean crisis.
That means the theology is late.
And the presentation is not neutral.
The writer places that late revelation under the authority of an ancient Daniel.
The dossier’s forensic conclusion is straightforward:
The text knowingly constructs a false sixth-century provenance and uses that antiquity to authenticate the message.
That matters enormously.
A second-century doctrine is being presented as though an ancient prophet already possessed it centuries earlier.
So when somebody later points to Daniel and says:
“See? This belief was ancient.”
No.
That is exactly what the literary construction makes it appear to be.
The antiquity is the illusion.
THEN THE SECTS APPEAR
After this late theological development, the historical record finally gives us the named groups:
Pharisees.
Sadducees.
They become visible in the Hasmonean period.
Not under Moses.
Not in the Babylonian age of the supposed Daniel.
After the Maccabean-era theology represented by Daniel.
And now watch what they fight about.
RESURRECTION
Acts 23:8:
Sadducees: no resurrection.
Pharisees: resurrection.
Mark identifies the Sadducees as people who deny resurrection.
Matthew does the same.
Josephus independently describes different postmortem beliefs between the sects.
This is the split sitting in front of us.
If resurrection had simply been the unchanged religion of Moses from the beginning, why are major Jewish sects fighting over whether it exists?
Because the system developed.
The chronology is:
OLDER SHEOL WORLD
then
LATE SECOND-TEMPLE RESURRECTION DEVELOPMENT
then
DANIEL GIVES THAT DEVELOPMENT FALSE ANTIQUITY
then
PHARISEES AND SADDUCEES APPEAR
then
THEY SPLIT OVER RESURRECTION
That is not speculation.
That is the order of the evidence.
NOW LOOK EAST
Before Daniel’s late resurrection text, the Iranian religious world already existed.
And at its center stood Ahura Mazda.
The Gathas identify Mazda as:
Father of Aša.
Aša means the domain of truth, rightness, proper order, reality aligned correctly.
Its opposite is:
Druj — the Lie.
So centuries before Christianity, the Iranian system already possessed this architecture:
THE SUPREME FATHER
↓
AŠA — TRUTH / RIGHT ORDER
against
DRUJ — THE LIE
And ancient Greek testimony attributed to Theopompus reports the Magi teaching that human beings would live again and become immortal before Daniel 12 was written.
So the chronology becomes even harder to ignore:
Mazdan Truth/Lie religion exists first.
Magian future-life teaching exists first.
Persian rule places Jews and Iranians in prolonged contact.
Then Jewish apocalyptic theology develops.
Then Daniel presents resurrection as ancient revelation.
Then Pharisees and Sadducees emerge.
Then resurrection becomes one of their defining disputes.
That is the historical sequence.
AND WE CAN SEE THE IRANIAN BRIDGE INSIDE JUDAISM
This is not based merely on “Persia was nearby.”
At Qumran we find the Two Spirits teaching:
Truth versus Deceit.
Light versus Darkness.
two opposed moral paths.
human affiliation with one side or the other.
judgment.
final defeat of the dark side.
Modern specialist scholarship explicitly argues that this distinctive system is indebted to Zoroastrian dualism.
So the bridge is no longer hypothetical.
Iranian religious structures entered the Jewish theological environment.
The Jews reworked them into Jewish language.
But the structures are there.
AND EVEN THE DIVINE NAME COULD CHANGE WITHOUT THE GOD DISAPPEARING
Then comes Zeus-Oromasdes.
Oromasdes is Ahura Mazda.
Greeks could identify Mazda with Zeus.
Eventually we see the combined divine identity:
ZEUS-OROMASDES
That is physical historical evidence of the exact mechanism people keep pretending is impossible.
One divine reality.
Different cultural divine names.
So this argument fails:
“Jesus spoke inside Jewish religious language, therefore his Father could not possibly correspond to the God known elsewhere as Ahura Mazda.”
Ancient religion did not work that simply.
A divine identity could cross languages and cultures while retaining the underlying referent.
We have an actual Mazda example.
NOW JESUS ENTERS THE STORY
And now the whole timeline crashes into John 8.
The people confronting Jesus tell him:
“We have one Father — God.”
That should end the matter if inherited religious identity settles paternity.
But Jesus says it does not.
He tests their claim.
He looks at:
what they do
what they desire
whether they receive truth
whether they seek murder
whether they belong to the Lie
And he rejects their claimed paternity.
Then he identifies their operative father through two defining features:
MURDER
and
THE LIE.
Read that again.
They claim God as Father.
Jesus says their claim does not survive the test.
He uses murder and falsehood to expose false paternity.
NOW OPEN THE YHWH RECORD
The inherited YHWH corpus contains:
“Jealous” as YHWH’s own epithet/name.
A scene where YHWH authorizes a lying spirit.
Commands attributed to YHWH ordering the killing of women, children, and infants.
An action attributed to YHWH in Samuel that is later attributed to Satan in Chronicles.
That last one should stop the reader cold.
The tradition itself moves a troubling action:
YHWH → SATAN
while preserving the larger religious system.
So we already know that divine agency was being morally redistributed inside the Bible.
NOW PUT THE TWO SIDES BESIDE JESUS’ TEST
Jesus’ rejected-father markers:
MURDER
THE LIE
Composite YHWH record:
commanded killing
authorized lying spirit
Jealous
agency later transferred from YHWH to Satan
Older Mazda profile:
Father of Aša
Truth/right order
Druj = the Lie as the opposing side
That is why Mazda matters.
Not because the name sounds similar.
Not because Persia was nearby.
Not because somebody found one interesting parallel.
Because when Jesus puts divine paternity itself on trial using Truth versus Lie and murder versus righteous works, we already possess an older divine profile explicitly centered on Father of Aša against the Lie.
And we possess a competing inherited divine record containing the very liabilities appearing on the rejected side of Jesus’ test.
THIS IS THE CASE
Here it is without decoration:
1. Mazda is Father of Aša before Christianity.
2. Aša stands against the Lie.
3. Iranian future-life theology predates Daniel’s resurrection text.
4. Jews and Iranians had centuries of historical contact.
5. Iranian Truth/Deceit structures demonstrably enter Jewish apocalyptic thought.
6. Daniel’s developed resurrection theology is late.
7. Daniel falsely presents that late theology under ancient prophetic authority.
8. Pharisees and Sadducees appear afterward in the Hasmonean world.
9. They are divided over resurrection.
10. Jesus later rejects claimed divine paternity by testing Truth, works, murder, and the Lie.
11. The YHWH corpus contains attributed deception and commanded killing.
12. The older Mazda profile is Father of Aša, structurally opposed to the Lie.
13. Zeus-Oromasdes proves that Mazda’s divine identity could historically survive under another cultural divine name.
That does not leave us with a random comparison.
It leaves us with a historical question staring directly at us:
When Jesus says the true Father is known by Truth and the false father by murder and the Lie, which older divine profile actually fits his test?
That is where the investigation begins.
Not with the inherited name.
With the evidence.
