Doctrine Passports

Each passport records the doctrine’s early baseline, Iranian evidence, Jewish transformation, Johannine destination, causal grade, and historical limit.

1. Resurrection

  • Early Israelite baseline: Sheol; exceptional resuscitations and national restoration imagery, but no normal final differentiated resurrection.
  • Iranian evidence: Gathic judgment and renovation; explicit resurrection in Yašt 19; fourth-century BCE Greek testimony that the Magi expected renewed life and immortality.
  • Jewish transformation: Isaiah 26:19; Book of Watchers revivification; Daniel 12:2–3 differentiated resurrection; 2 Maccabees bodily martyr restoration.
  • Johannine destination: John 5:28–29 reproduces opposed resurrections as life and judgment; John 11 centers resurrection in the Son.
  • Causal grade: Iranian participation probable cumulatively.
  • Limit: no direct Avestan source for Daniel or John; Yašt 19’s received stanza lacks a secure absolute date.

2. Final judgment and cosmic renovation

  • Early Israelite baseline: historical judgment and national restoration dominate.
  • Iranian evidence: individual moral judgment, best/worst existences, final victory of Aša, Saošyant, and Frašō.kərəti.
  • Jewish transformation: apocalyptic court, books, resurrection, vindication, and permanent destinies in Daniel and later texts.
  • Johannine destination: the Father grants judgment to the Son; life and judgment become Father–Son functions.
  • Causal grade: Iranian contribution probable as part of the assembled eschatological package.
  • Limit: creation-renewal motifs also have internal prophetic and broader ancient backgrounds.

3. The adversary

  • Early Israelite baseline: satan is an attacker or office-holder within Yahweh’s court; harmful spirits and deception can operate under Yahweh’s authority.
  • Iranian evidence: destructive spiritual opposition belongs to an older Truth/Lie architecture; Aēšma represents destructive wrath and violence.
  • Jewish transformation: Chronicles’ agent swap; Watcher rebellion; Mastema in Jubilees; Belial and the Angel of Darkness at Qumran.
  • Johannine destination: the devil is murderer, liar, father of falsehood, and ruler of the world.
  • Causal grade: Iranian-mediated reconstruction probable cumulatively; direct Aēšma/Asmodeus transmission established.
  • Limit: Satan is not simply Angra Mainyu renamed, and later Jewish texts retain divine sovereignty over hostile powers.

4. Truth against Lie

  • Early Israelite baseline: truth and falsehood are ordinary moral and covenantal categories; two-ways teaching exists.
  • Iranian evidence: Aša/Druj, two spirits, thought-word-deed, free alignment, life/death, judgment, and the Lie’s defeat form a coordinated system in Yasna 30.
  • Jewish transformation: 1QS coordinates spirits of Truth and Deceit, human lots, Light/Darkness, moral catalogues, bounded dominion, and final destruction.
  • Johannine destination: Father/Son/Spirit occupy Truth; the devil characterologically owns lie and murder; works reveal paternity.
  • Causal grade: Iranian participation in the Qumran package probable; direct Qumran-to-John dependence unproved.
  • Limit: Aša and Druj have Indo-Iranian cognates; isolated truth vocabulary is not sufficient evidence.

5. Light and darkness

  • Early Israelite baseline: creation, prophetic, Torah, and wisdom imagery supply rich light/dark contrasts.
  • Iranian evidence: later externally reported Iranian systems associate the good with light and the hostile power with darkness; exact early formulations require caution.
  • Jewish transformation: Qumran gives Light/Darkness paired princes, lots, ethical ways, and eschatological conflict.
  • Johannine destination: the Logos is life and light; darkness opposes but does not overcome; judgment exposes works.
  • Causal grade: broader Iranian participation plausible-to-probable at the structural level.
  • Limit: John’s immediate light imagery is best explained through Genesis, Isaiah, Torah/Wisdom, festivals, and wider Jewish exegesis.

6. Danielic Son of Man

  • Early Israelite baseline: royal, prophetic, and divine-council resources.
  • Iranian environment: contributes to the apocalyptic world of judgment, cosmic conflict, resurrection, and final kingdom rather than supplying a direct Son-of-Man title.
  • Jewish transformation: Daniel 7’s human-like figure and holy ones; later Jewish interpretation increasingly individualizes the heavenly figure.
  • Johannine destination: the Father grants life and judgment to the Son of Man; Daniel 7 authority joins Daniel 12 resurrection.
  • Causal grade: Gospel reception established; Iranian participation belongs to the upstream environment, not the title’s direct lexical source.
  • Limit: Saoshyant and Son of Man must not be collapsed into simple identity.

7. The Father

  • Israelite locator: John explicitly places the Father inside Israel’s scriptures and calls him the one the interlocutors call “our God.”
  • Iranian identity: Ahura Mazda is creator, lord of wisdom, Father/creator of Aša and Vohu Manah, Father of Ārmaiti, creator through Spənta Mainyu, judge, and final guarantor of the good creation.
  • Received Iranian family: Yašt 19 describes the beneficent powers as one in mind, voice, and act under one Father and ruler; this is a Younger Avestan development, not an exact Gathic or Trinitarian formula.
  • Johannine synthesis: the Father is the primary divine source; the Son receives and shares creation, life, judgment, glory, words, and works; the Spirit of Truth continues Father–Son truth-agency.
  • Comparative grade: Mazda is the strongest older integrated Father-side identity on the Johannine-derived axes.
  • Rival-candidate control: the Run 31 tournament gives Yahweh/Israel’s God the literary-locator victory, Wisdom the immediate moral bridge, Qumran the Jewish-dualism witness, Philo the Logos analogy, and Plato the broad metaphysical substrate; Mazda’s victory is restricted to the older integrated Father-of-Truth identity-profile question.
  • Independence control: the Run 32 firewall collapses the PM registry into twelve families and nine source-distinct pillars, forbids numerical probability multiplication, and identifies Father-of-Aša as load-bearing rather than disguising dependence as cumulative abundance.
  • Philological anchor control: Run 33 grounds the Father-of-Aša relation in ptā plus genitive Aša, begetting language, a declarative Mazda clause, Old Avestan creation/ordering, and early reception; “creator/establisher/arranger” and “Truth/Order/Righteousness” remain bounded translation ranges.
  • Theological conclusion: the interlocutors claim Yahweh as Father and Jesus rejects their claim; under the project’s defended one-Father and moral-identity premises, Ahura Mazda is Jesus’s Father.
  • Limit: John never explicitly names Mazda, and Johannine Father–Son–Spirit theology is not an Avestan trinity; the Run 30 result is a B+ relational-system correspondence inside the cumulative argument.

8. Moral paternity

  • Textual rule: John 8 concedes biological ancestry while making desire, works, love, hearing, truth, and murder disclose operative paternity.
  • Negative pole: the devil is murderer and father of falsehood.
  • Positive pole: God’s children hear God; love the sent Son; remain in truth; and do the Father’s works.
  • Comparative use: inherited communal naming cannot by itself terminate examination of competing divine descriptions.
  • Grade: moral-paternity logic established; applying it to Mazda/Yahweh profiles is a reasoned comparative-theological extension.
  • Textual form: John 8 does not print a lexical equation between the names Yahweh and devil; it gives the argument’s operative sequence—Yahweh claimed as Father, the claim rejected, and devilish paternity revealed by lie and murder.

9. First and Last

  • Iranian evidence: Yasna 31.8 portrays Mazda as primal creator and source; Yasna 43.5 spans creation to the final turning point.
  • Translation control: the exact “very First and the Last” rendering in Yasna 31.8 is not philologically secure across major translators.
  • Biblical evidence: Isaiah supplies First/Last language; Revelation’s Alpha/Omega reworks Isaiah.
  • Grade: functional beginning-to-consummation sovereignty is supported for Mazda; direct lexical borrowing is unsupported.
  • Limit: this is not a load-bearing exhibit in the final case.
