EXODUS: The Escape from the Yahweh Deception

(Article 2): Yahweh vs. Ahura Mazda – The True God vs. The Deceiver

Thesis:

Yahweh and Ahura Mazda are not the same god—one represents wisdom, truth, and righteousness (Asha), while the other is a being of jealousy, wrath, and deception.

Key Evidence:

1. The Nature of Ahura Mazda vs. Yahweh

  • Ahura Mazda (Zoroastrianism) – Represents pure wisdom, light, and cosmic order (Asha). He does not demand fear or blind obedience but encourages righteous thought, words, and actions.
  • Yahweh (Judaism & Christianity) – Demands strict obedience, punishes those who disobey, and is often depicted as jealous and wrathful.
  • Exodus 34:14 – “Do not worship any other god, for Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
  • Deuteronomy 32:21 – “They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols.”
  • If Yahweh were truly the one supreme and all-powerful god, why would he feel jealousy—a human emotion? This aligns more with Angra Mainyu (Ahriman), the force of deceit and disorder.

2. The Concept of Asha vs. Yahweh’s Law

  • Asha (Zoroastrianism) – The principle of cosmic truth and righteousness, guiding individuals to align with universal harmony. People are encouraged to think for themselves and pursue enlightenment.
  • Yahweh’s Law (Torah & Bible) – Requires submission, legalistic obedience, and strict rituals.
  • Romans 3:28 – “For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.”
  • Matthew 5:18 – “For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law.”
  • This rigid, unchanging law contrasts with the dynamic and evolving wisdom encouraged by Ahura Mazda.

3. Yahweh’s Favoritism vs. Universal Goodness of Ahura Mazda

  • Deuteronomy 7:6 – “For you are a people holy to Yahweh your God. Yahweh your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.”
  • Yahweh’s covenant is exclusive, focusing only on the Israelites, while Ahura Mazda promotes universal righteousness for all humanity.
  • Gathas of Zarathustra (Yasna 30.3) – “Thus, those who choose good shall be blessed, and those who choose evil shall be cast aside, regardless of their nation or birth.”
  • This stark difference suggests that Yahweh operates with tribal favoritism, while Ahura Mazda operates with true justice for all.

4. The Origins of Yahweh – A Transformed War God?

  • Historical studies reveal that Yahweh was originally a Canaanite storm and war god, later merged into Israelite monotheism.
  • Psalm 18:14 – “He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy, with great bolts of lightning he routed them.”
  • Habakkuk 3:11-12 – “Sun and moon stood still in the heavens at the glint of your flying arrows, at the lightning of your flashing spear. In wrath you strode through the earth and in anger you threshed the nations.”
  • Compare this with Ahura Mazda, who is never depicted as engaging in war or showing personal rage.
  • Yahweh’s violent, destructive tendencies match the attributes of a localized storm god rather than a universal creator.

5. The Influence of Zoroastrianism on Judaism

  • After the Persian conquest of Babylon (539 BCE), many Jewish religious beliefs evolved under Persian influence.
  • Concepts introduced to Judaism after Persian rule:
    • Angels and demons (Previously absent in early Jewish texts)
    • Heaven and Hell (Sheol was originally a neutral underworld)
    • A Messiah figure (Borrowed from Zoroastrian Saoshyant)
    • Dualism (Good vs. Evil, Ahura Mazda vs. Angra Mainyu, later mirrored in Jewish apocalypticism)
  • Isaiah 45:7 – “I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, Yahweh, do all these things.”
  • This verse contradicts the idea of Yahweh being purely good—unlike Ahura Mazda, who is entirely benevolent and does not create evil.

Yahweh was never a universal god—he was a localized tribal deity that demanded submission, jealousy, and war. Ahura Mazda represents wisdom, righteousness, and truth, aligning with the true cosmic order. The corruption of monotheism has led people to mistake a false god for the true source of divine wisdom.

Yahweh’s law leads to control—Ahura Mazda’s path leads to enlightenment. The deception is clear—Yahweh was never the one true God.
